Quotex review India 2026: what it costs, what it pays, where it stands

The advertised figures are easy to find. What nobody publishes for an Indian trader is what those figures mean in rupees, and what the regulatory and tax position actually is. That is what this page does.

Short answer

A well-built platform with payouts at the top of its category and a genuinely free demo. Also completely outside Indian regulation, with no rupee account and a tax rule that punishes frequent trading. Our assessment: 7.8 out of 10.

What Quotex actually is

Quotex is a fixed-time options platform: you pick an asset, pick a direction, pick an expiry between 5 seconds and 4 hours, and either receive a fixed payout or lose the stake. It is not a broker in the sense that Zerodha or Upstox are brokers — there is no exchange behind the trade, no counterparty you can identify, and no clearing.

That structure is exactly why SEBI has never licensed a platform like it, and why Quotex operates from an offshore registration. The full legal position is in our Quotex legality guide; this page covers the product.

Payouts: what the numbers mean

Quotex advertises payouts of up to 98%, which is genuinely at the top of the category. The qualification matters: that ceiling applies to selected assets under particular conditions, not across the board. On major currency pairs, published rates sit in the 80–92% band.

Here is the part that decides whether any of it works, and it is arithmetic rather than opinion:

PayoutYou riskYou winBreak-even win rate
92%₹1,000₹92052.1%
88%₹1,000₹88053.2%
85%₹1,000₹85054.1%
80%₹1,000₹80055.6%
A losing trade costs 100% of the stake; a winning one returns the payout percentage. That asymmetry is the house edge, and it is why the payout figure matters more than any indicator setting. Sustaining a win rate above 52% is difficult; most retail traders do not.

Getting money in and out from India

Quotex holds balances in US dollars and offers no rupee account. Every deposit and withdrawal is converted by a third-party processor, and the processor's spread — not any Quotex fee — is the real cost.

At a mid-market rate near ₹83.92 to the dollar, the $10 minimum is genuinely worth about ₹839. Depending on the route, expect to pay somewhere between ₹865 and ₹955 for it. The full calculation, and how to check the rate on your own payment screen, is in the deposit guide.

💡

USDT carries the smallest spread by a wide margin

Roughly 3% over mid-market against about 12% for UPI. If you deposit regularly, that difference compounds into a real drag before a single trade is placed — and crypto is also generally the fastest withdrawal route.

On withdrawals, the most commonly reported cause of delay is mundane and entirely avoidable: a mismatch between the name on your platform account and the name on your bank or card records. Match them exactly, including middle initials, before you deposit rather than when you want your money out. More in the withdrawal guide.

The app in India

The Android app is not distributed through the Google Play Store in India, because Play's financial services policy restricts unregulated trading products in markets where they are not licensed. It is a direct APK download from the platform's own site.

That changes what you should check: no Play Protect scanning, no automatic updates, and you must enable installation from unknown sources. The real risk is not the official app but the mirror sites that surface when you search for it. Our app guide covers verifying what you install.

The demo account is the strongest thing here

$10,000 in virtual funds, no deposit, no KYC, no time limit, refillable, with the same assets and interface as a live account. We looked for the usual traps — restricted assets, worse payouts, a countdown pushing you to deposit — and did not find them.

For anyone in India it is also the only part of the platform with no legal or tax dimension: no money leaves the country, no forex transaction occurs, no income arises. If you are learning, there is no reason to be anywhere else. See the demo guide.

Who it suits

  • Learning on demo: unreservedly. Best free training environment in this category, with zero exposure of any kind.
  • Experienced and comfortable with the risk: defensible. Good payouts and a low entry point — provided you accept that no regulator stands behind it and that you file the 30% yourself.
  • Looking for income or investor protection: no. Fixed-time options carry a structural negative expectancy, and if regulation matters, NSE and BSE options are the legitimate route.

Verdict

Quotex earns 7.8 out of 10 from us. Within its category it is one of the better-built platforms: payouts near the top, a low entry point, and a demo that is genuinely unrestricted. Against that sit four things that no review should bury — no SEBI licence, no rupee account, a payment spread that makes the real cost noticeably higher than $10, and a tax rule that taxes gross winnings with no deduction for losses.

The product is good. The framework around it is not, and both halves are true at once.

Straight answers

Quotex review — frequently asked

Is Quotex a scam?

There is no evidence that Quotex refuses legitimate withdrawals as a matter of practice, and it has operated for years with a large user base. It is, however, entirely unregulated in India — which is a different and more important point.

A platform with no supervising authority has no obligation you could enforce and no forum in which you could pursue one. That is true whether or not it pays reliably today.

What is the real minimum to start?

The advertised minimum is $10. At a mid-market rate near ₹83.92 that is worth about ₹839, but a third-party processor handles the conversion and takes a spread, typically bringing a UPI deposit to around ₹940. USDT is materially cheaper.

Can I trust the 98% payout claim?

It is a genuine advertised figure for selected assets and conditions, not a general rate. Standard payouts on major pairs sit in the 80 to 92 percent band. Verify the payout shown on the asset you intend to trade before entering — it is displayed at the order screen.

Is there Quotex support in India?

There is no Indian entity, no local phone number and no Indian regulator to escalate to. Support runs through the platform's own chat and email in English, on an offshore schedule.

Should I use it?

For learning on the free demo, it is a reasonable choice and carries no legal or tax dimension in India. For real money, that is a decision only you can make — and it should be made knowing there is no regulator behind the platform, no loss set-off against the 30 percent tax, and a structural edge against the trader built into fixed-time payouts.

Risk warning. Binary options are high-risk speculative products and the majority of retail traders lose money. A payout percentage is the return on a winning trade, not an expected return. Quotex is not authorised by SEBI and appears on the RBI Alert List; Indian residents remitting funds to unauthorised platforms may be exposed under FEMA and have no local dispute resolution. Nothing on this page is investment, legal or tax advice. Consult a SEBI-registered adviser and a chartered accountant before acting. Never trade money you cannot afford to lose entirely.
